New Haven is a city in northeastern Indiana. It is a suburb of Fort Wayne and located 7 miles east of downtown Fort Wayne. New Haven is positioned in Adams, Jefferson, and St. Joseph townships in Allen County. According to the United States Census Bureau, approximately 15,384 people lived in New Haven in 2016.
New Haven is located in an area of Indiana that was controlled by the Miami Indians. Eventually, individuals of European descent arrived in the area and pushed out the Native Americans. Following the establishment of Fort Wayne, New Haven was established. In 1839, the city became platted. Henry Burgess platted New Haven. By the mid-1800s, New Haven was an incorporated city.
