Paulding is a small village in the northwestern corner of Ohio. It is positioned in Paulding County and serves as the seat of government. The Village of Paulding is located 11 miles east of the Indiana state border and 33 miles east of Fort Wayne, the second largest city in Indiana. Original inhabitants of the area Paulding, Ohio is located in were Native American Indians. Eventually, individuals of European descent arrived and pushed out the Native Americans. Following the establishment of Fort Wayne, Indiana, more villages and cities were developed in the surrounding areas. Paulding was formed in 1848. It is named for Paulding County and was established in the center of the county. The Village of Paulding became an incorporated municipality in 1872.
